December 2016: Celebration in the Oaks (ADMISSION)
This special, month-long light show in City Park hosts hundreds of thousands of colorful lights and illuminated outdoor displays to showcase the holiday season in New Orleans. An annual tradition that began in the late 1980s, Celebration in the Oaks is a family-friendly event that only happens after dark. Over the years it has become one of the most beautiful and popular holiday lighting displays in the country, attracting hundreds of thousands of people annually.

December 2016: Miracle on Fulton Street (FREE)

The event, presented by Harrah's New Orleans, will transform the Fulton Street pedestrian corridor into a winter wonderland. During the first three weekends of December, on Friday and Saturday evenings from 5 to 10 p.m. (Dec. 4-5, 11-12, and 18-19), guests can shop a holiday market, sip on festive drinks, and enjoy live entertainment.

December 8, 2016: Tales of the Toddy (ADMISSION)

It’s time once again to celebrate the most wonderful time of the year with the most spirited holiday party of the season. Tales of the Toddy ® returns for it’s 11th year this December as the best bartenders in New Orleans shake up the idea of yuletide cocktails with nogs, toddies and other drinks that are guaranteed to put you in the holiday spirit. The city’s newest and most legendary restaurants will also be there with the freshest flavors of the season as a live band plays holiday hits that will keep the party rockin’ around the holiday tree all night long.

December 16, 2016: Dashing Through the Dome (ADMISSION)

This unique 2-mile race runs participants into the Mercedes-Benz Superdome, up and around the Dome's Ground, Plaza and Terrace Levels, then down the ramps finishing on the field! This event is fun for competitive runners looking for a new challenge, kids & football fans alike.

All participants will receive a race t-shirt, free post-race refreshments, hospitality area during the R+L Carriers New Orleans Bowl concert in Champions Square and a free general admission ticket to the 2016 R+L Carriers New Orleans Bowl.

This race will be followed by a FREE New Orleans Bowl Concert in Champions Square.

December 16-30, 2016:  NOLA Christmas Fest (ADMISSION)

At NOLA ChristmasFest, experience indoor family holiday fun featuring New Orleans’ only ice skating rink, the Kringle Carousel, carnival rides and inflatables, Santa and holiday characters, children’s crafts, decorated trees, dazzling lights and more!

December 17, 2016: R+L Carriers New Orleans Bowl (ADMISSION)

The New Orleans Bowl, a post-season college bowl game, takes place every December at the Mercedes-Benz Superdome. Teams will be announced soon.

December 17, 2016: Running of the Santas (ADMISSION)

A pub crawl for charity. Put on your Santa suit and join the fun, all while supporting a great cause.

December 18, 2016: Caroling in Jackson Square (FREE)

An event not to be missed! Jackson Square will be illuminated by hundreds of candles held by singers, both amateur and professional, crooning Christmas favorites that everyone is familiar with. The event is free and open to all who wish to participate, regardless of religious affiliation.

December 31, 2016: New Year's Eve Celebration (FREE)

New Orleans is known for putting a twist on every holiday, and New Year’s Eve is no exception. Whether it’s the fleur-de-lis drop, the fireworks, or the parties throughout the city, New Year’s Eve in New Orleans is one-of-a-kind. This year’s activities start early on December 31st and will last throughout the first day of 2017.
